Creamy Masala Chai Tea
In India, where this fragrant, toasty, and sweet brew was born, Chai means tea, so Chai tea translated means “tea tea!” This Masala Chai recipe is a perfect balance of warming spices and frothed whipped cream. The spices are based on a traditional Masala Chai recipe, but you can vary them to your taste.
Ingredients
10 Green Cardamom Pods
6 Whole Cloves
10 Black Peppercorns
1 Whole Star Anise
1 Cinnamon Stick (split lengthwise)
6 slices Fresh Ginger
3 Black Tea Bags (or 3 Tablespoons loose leaf black tea)
1 Can Compressed Whipped Topping
Serves two.
Instructions
Lightly crush the cardamom pods, cloves, peppercorns and star anise. Add the crushed spices to a medium saucepan along with the cinnamon stick, ginger and tea. Pour in 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Turn off heat, cover and steep at least 10 minutes and up to 30 minutes - the longer the steep the stronger the flavor. Strain the warm liquid into two mugs or glasses and infuse with whipped cream using the FōM Company Frothing Wand. See instructions here.
